Product Review: GinnyBakes





I was given an opportunity to try GinnyBakes products and review them for my readers -- I had never heard of GinnyBakes, so I was eager to give them a taste.  We don't eat dairy butter in our family, so I nibbled on the cookies sparingly, but was delighted to see that the baking mixes were vegan.  I am not gluten free myself, but I have plenty of friends and family who are, so I got many "second opinions" during the course of the taste test!


A little about GinnyBakes:

  • The founder, Ginny, is a holistic nutritionist (still wondering why she uses butter, though!)
  • No artificial ingredients
  • Gluten free, organic, non-GMO, kosher, and some are vegan
  • The GinnyBakes line includes cookies, bars, crumble snacks, and baking mixes
  • Sold at Whole Foods Market
  • Retails for $5.99 for a 5.5oz box

For starters, you hardly notice the cookies are gluten free -- they are crispy, but not chalky.  I would have liked a bit more chocolate chips, as the chocolate flavor isn't very strong, but I do like the fact that they are not over sweet.  The vegan bars are so-so -- I do appreciate the shout out to vegans in their product line, but perhaps using a dairy alternative for butter would be a better option.  The baking mixes are simple to use and the cookies turn out well every time, so Ginny really knows her stuff when it comes to baking!

It is good to know that more companies are coming up with natural baked goods, and as I am planning on getting my certification in nutrition and holistic medicine, I appreciate what Ginny is doing with GinnyBakes.  Look for her cookies today and give them a try; you won't be disappointed!
